Manuel Ricardo Garcia – Exhibition: Trans*people of the World
is an international project about Trans*people worldwide. I travelled the world for many years and took pictures of 50 Trans*people in their home cities – I portray each of them as special and beautiful in their own distinct ways, with their individual pride and strength, but also their vulnerabilities. Some of them live in countries where there is a trans* movement, others live in countries where they have to fight a terribly exhausting battle every day of their lives to survive.
I am Manuel Ricardo Garcia, a two-spirit and queer FTM of color. I am a Trans*activist and Photoartist from Europe, founder of the Munich Trans*-and Inter*convention, the biggest Convention in Europe, Autor of the book „Transmen of the World“, winner of the Pride Photo Award 2011 – Amsterdam, founder of the QTPOC group “Beyond Color.” I am the rolemodel and developer for Trans*gay people of the biggest safe sex campagne IWWIT in Germany. I am a facilitator, a healer, a teacher for Empowerwork for POC’s & spiritual work and all transtopics. I am currently based in Munich and I have family in Chihuahua Mexico. “I am dancing to the beat of a different drum”.
